Battle New Pond

This water of approximately 3 acres is situated on the historic grounds behind Battle Abbey in Battle. You are even able to see the Abbey whilst fishing the lake.

Due to the water being on the English Heritage grounds it has to be kept in a very natural way so you really do get to experience nature at its best. The water is an oval shape with an island right in the middle.

There are a large number of lily pads in the water in addition to quite a large amount of weed so seeking out the clearer areas is strongly advised. However, with the permission of English Heritage there will be several areas cleared of weed and lily pads to improve the fishing and to prevent the water being completely taken over.

The water contains carp to just over 20lbs, bream and tench to 5lbs in addition to perch, rudd and eels.

Parking for this water is on the main road between Catsfield and Battle in the layby.

PLEASE EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHILST MAKING YOUR WAY TO AND FROM THE WATER AS THIS ROAD IS PARTICULARLY QUICK.
